Wales announce shirt sponsor winner for Australia game
Corbett Sports were, on Thursday night at a reception at the Ramada Hotel in Wrexham, unveiled as the lucky winner of a charity shirt raffle organised by Wales Rugby League and Nightingale House Hospice.
The event was attended by participating companies, Wales Rugby League players, officials and media.
Wales Rugby League announced at the end of October, in partnership with Nightingale Hospice - the National sides chosen charity - the initiative to raffle the front of the shirt for Wales’ only home Gillette Four Nations fixture against former World Champions Australia this Sunday at the Glyndŵr University Racecourse Stadium in Wrexham (kick-off 5.45pm), to help raise much needed funds for the Hospice.
Mark Rowley, General Manager of Wales Rugby League said: “The initiative has been a great success raising a lot of money for a fantastic cause. I’m glad that Wales Rugby League has been able to help the community in this way. I would like to thank everyone who took part and congratulate Corbett Sports as the winner, a family owned business which already has a long record of supporting grass roots sport in Wales.”
Michael Corbett, Managing Director of Corbett Sports said: “The opportunity to sponsor the Welsh Rugby League team is a welcome and exciting opportunity. Many of our shops are in the Rugby League heartlands and we have recently opened new shops in the Wrexham area and Cheshire. With Corbett Sports being the football sponsors of the Welsh Premier League, we are supporting more British sport than ever before as we look to celebrate our 65th anniversary in 2012.”
Caroline Siddall, Income Generation Director at Nightingale House Hospice said: “We were delighted when Wales Rugby League suggested the shirt raffle initiative and we would like to thank both them and all those companies who took part for supporting the hospice. The hospice is very proud to be associated with our national team.”
